sea of burgundy began with a single question: how deep can a color really go. Not a depiction of any particular landscape, but a space of color. Warm, self-contained, made to be entered rather than simply viewed.

The depth builds through layers of paint laid over one another, each shifting the ones beneath it. Some areas were placed with intention, others emerged in the act of painting itself.
